Mary Frame
Mary Frame studied Fine Art at Durham University in the '50s where she specialised in Textile Design and wrote her thesis on Paul Klee. After a period of freelance design in fabrics and wallpaper, Mary moved to West Africa in the early '60s. She taught Art and Craft at a Teacher Training College in Ghana before moving to Nigeria where she was Head of the Textile Department at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria. During leave periods she held exhibitions of watercolours of North West Scotland in both Braemar and London.
After running her own hand-crafted textiles business in London during the '70s, Mary took up painting again in 1980, and in 1983 she started to paint in pastel as well as watercolour. Recently she has returned to oils and also enjoys making watercolour collages.
